Layodacha Coffee was officially founded in 2015, while its roots stretch back over three decades, beginning in a small town in Guji Zone called Layo. It was here that our visionary leader, Tamirat Zerihun, took his first steps toward creating
something extraordinary.

With nothing more than a single-room office, Tamirat laid the foundation for what Layodacha is today—a treasure for the world of coffee. The name “Layodacha”, derived from
the Afan-Oromo language, means “fertile and double”, symbolizing the rich soil and high-yielding farms that define our legacy. Our land doesn’t just grow coffee; it thrives, producing double the yield of ordinary farms thanks to its natural fertility and our commitment to sustainable farming practices.

From Humble Beginnings to Global Impact

At the heart of our mission is a deep respect for farmers, biodiversity, and nature. We believe that great coffee starts at the source, cultivated by dedicated farmers who pour
their hearts into every bean.

Our purpose has always been clear: to deliver the finest Ethiopian coffee — uncompromising in quality—from the farm to the cup, serving what we proudly call the “Layodacha Family.”

What began as a small operation, supplying just a few bags of coffee to local shops, quickly grew into something far greater. Today, Layodacha Coffee stands as one of
Ethiopia’s premier coffee export companies, bringing highland organic coffee to millions of coffee lovers worldwide. Beyond exports, we serve as a backbone for Ethiopia’s coffee industry, supplying more than 300 containers of specialty and conventional coffee to major exporters.

A Visionary Leader: Tamirat Zerihun

Born into a farming family, our founder and CEO, Tamirat Zerihun, developed an early appreciation for the dedication and labor behind coffee farming.

In his early twenties, filled with energy and ambition, he started collaborating with smallholder farmers, offering them advanced methods to increase both production and quality.

With over 30 years of experience, Tamirat has worked across Ethiopia’s top coffee- growing regions, including Guji, Sidamo, Yirgacheffe, Djimma, and Bale. He owns his
own coffee farms, primarily in Guji Zone, and operates 20 dry and washed coffee stations.

His deep knowledge, extensive network, and hands-on approach have positioned Layodacha as a trusted supplier for Ethiopia’s largest coffee exporters.

Driven by a passion to empower farmers and uplift communities, Tamirat has built Layodacha on the principles of sustainability, fair trade, and unwavering dedication to
quality.
